Platform and business model

Titan OS was founded in 2023 by Jacinto Roca, previously the founder of Wuaki.tv (acquired by Rakuten), together with Timothy Edwards, Miquel Barba and Tobias Pfalzgraff. The company offers an independent, Linux-based smart TV OS that replaces platforms such as Android TV or Roku on television screens. eu-startups.comEU-Startupseu-startups.comOpen source ↗

For TV manufacturers, such as Philips and JVC, it provides customisable software and a revenue-sharing advertising model. Brands earn from on-screen ads and from pre-installed Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels. Viewers get a localized interface that combines major global apps, live television and free streaming content on a single home screen. eu-startups.comEU-Startupseu-startups.comOpen source ↗

Titan OS has reportedly scaled revenues 15 times and has licensed its technology to Philips, AOC, JVC, Vestel, Skyworth and Sharp. eu-startups.comEU-Startupseu-startups.comOpen source ↗

Plans for the funding

The company says the new capital will go toward strengthening its position as an independent TV OS from Europe, expanding global OEM partnerships, and investing in product innovation and advertising technology for user experience and monetisation for ecosystem partners. eu-startups.comEU-Startupseu-startups.comOpen source ↗

CFO Hyoung-Ung Kim said that three years after launch Titan OS is in millions of homes and continues to show strong year-on-year growth. He said the goal is to become a global player built from Barcelona in a market currently dominated by US and Asian companies. eu-startups.comEU-Startupseu-startups.comOpen source ↗

Laurence Garrett, General Partner at Highland Europe, described the model as a flywheel. In his words, TV makers earn a share of the revenue their screens generate for years after the sale, advertisers reach millions of homes across many TV brands, and Titan is a partner rather than a competitor to the walled gardens. eu-startups.comEU-Startupseu-startups.comOpen source ↗
