Comedy and a monologue on human nature

On 11 November Rosalia Porcaro presents "Semp'ess", a show of female characters who live through the tragic side of their lives and turn it into comic paradox. They include an elderly woman who spends her days cooking in the kitchen, an underpaid carer from Eastern Europe who must state her details every morning to the man she works for, and a Neapolitan pop singer who complains that she gets too little attention because she is absent from the latest scandals.

On 15 November Roberto Mercadini performs "Animali umani", a narrative about the history of Homo sapiens. It follows traits that distinguish the species and keep changing: societies, fire, food and cults. According to the programme, the piece also compares humans with chimpanzees, ants and viruses.

Multimessenger astronomy and a book on knowledge

On 13 November the evening "In tutte le lingue del cosmo", curated by INFN (the National Institute for Nuclear Physics), looks at light, neutrinos, cosmic rays and gravitational waves as separate "languages" of the universe. Multimessenger astronomy, a young discipline, combines gravitational signals, electromagnetic radiation and particles to reconstruct cosmic events. ilmattino.itIl Mattinoilmattino.itOpen source ↗

The speakers are Alberto Colombo Sormani (INFN, Rome section), Piera Sapienza (INFN, Laboratori Nazionali del Sud) and Viviana Fafone (INFN and the University of Rome Tor Vergata). Actress Bianca Mastromonaco takes part, and Manuela Albano and Luca Iovine perform on cello and clarinet. Entry is free, but registration online is mandatory for in-person attendance.

On 14 November Massimo Polidoro talks with Giovanni Covone, an astrophysicist and president of Città della Scienza. The conversation is based on Polidoro's new book "Breve storia della conoscenza" (Feltrinelli). It covers several turning points in knowledge, from fire to energy, industry and space exploration. The event is organised by Fondazione Idis – Città della Scienza, with free entry and mandatory registration.
