Samyang Group held its Samyang Innovation R&D Fair (SIRF) 2026 at the Samyang Discovery Center in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, moneystorm.kr reports. [1] It was the 15th edition. Two teams were recognized, for a laser-welding compound and an ion-exchange resin for nuclear power plants. [1]

The laser-welding compound is used in plastic joining of precision electronic parts, where heat damage must be limited. Using polymer crystal formation design, the team made the laser pass uniformly to the joint surface; the company says it is the first such product developed in Korea. [1] The material is flame-retardant and hydrolysis-resistant, can be mass-produced in various colors, and is used in automotive camera parts and actuators. [1]

The lithium-form resin removes impurities from reactor coolant and suppresses pipe corrosion. According to the company, improved resin pretreatment reduced residual metal impurities and lithium raw material use while keeping the same performance. [1] It reports higher exchange capacity, product life and cost competitiveness, and the resin is supplied to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. [1]

Seven research institutes presented results, and seven research themes were exhibited, including engineering plastics, biocompatible beauty and health materials and a SENS-based gene therapy for pulmonary fibrosis.
