Researchers evaluated the feasibility and preliminary outcomes of the 7-week Chinese-language digital intervention WECARE 2.0, developed for Chinese American family caregivers of people with dementia. The pilot results were reported in Alzheimer s & Dementia Behavior & Socioeconomics of Aging [1].

In the single-arm trial registered as NCT05992467, 48 caregivers were enrolled, with 36 participants completing the 12-month follow-up assessment. The program delivered short lessons via WeChat covering care management, communication, stress management, and local service access, alongside optional group meetings. Program completion reached 82%, while mean participant satisfaction scored 30.11/35 and perceived usefulness reached 21.84/25.

## Caregiver outcomes

Scores measuring positive aspects of caregiving increased significantly after the intervention and remained higher than baseline at the 12-month follow-up [1]. Caregiving mastery also improved immediately following the intervention, though its change from baseline to 12 months was not statistically significant.

Measures of caregiver depressive symptoms, overall burden, life satisfaction, and care-recipient problem behaviors showed no statistically significant changes overall across the study timeline [1]. Exploratory subgroup analyses showed favorable descriptive patterns for participants who entered the program with elevated depressive symptoms or limited English proficiency.

## Research limitations

The authors noted that the pilot trial did not include an untreated control group and featured a small sample size. Controlled studies are required to verify the outcomes and evaluate the intervention across broader caregiver cohorts [1].
