Eyewear manufacturer Gentle Monster announced on its website that its version of smart glasses running Google's Android XR platform will be released in December, according to ua.news citing Engadget [1]. Pre-orders for the hardware, named Intelligent Eyewear, are scheduled to open on November 12 [1]. However, Google has not independently confirmed either the pre-order timeline or the planned December launch date [1].

## Hardware Form Factor and Platform

The Android XR platform is designed to accommodate various hardware profiles, including mixed reality implementations in the Samsung Galaxy XR and augmented reality systems like the Xreal Aura [1]. Alongside Gentle Monster, companies Warby Parker and Samsung serve as partners on the platform project [1]. According to reports, Warby Parker also briefly listed November 12 as the pre-order date for its respective hardware variant [1].

Both the Gentle Monster and Warby Parker devices are built without an integrated visual display [1]. The engineering architecture focuses on audio interactions instead of visual overlay projection, operating as a screenless implementation within the ecosystem [1].

## Project Context and Promotional Materials

This collaborative device initiative is positioned to compete directly with smart glasses from Meta and revisits architectural elements of the earlier Google Glass project [1]. Alongside the product launch schedule, Gentle Monster released promotional materials directed by Jonathan Glazer, featuring actor Joaquin Phoenix, with the full video scheduled for mid-November [1].
